Bulletin #1: Teaching Resources on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine
Compiled by Kip Cates, Feb. 27, 2022
Dear GILE colleagues,
Many of us are still stunned by the military attack ordered by Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. This brutal act has plunged the world into a senseless war, brought death, suffering and destruction, and led to a mass refugee exodus of innocent men, women and children.

The speed and scale of the attacks have left many people watching this crisis helplessly. However, as socially-responsible educators, we have a duty to stand up, address this issue in our schools and classrooms, and join our students to take action.

To assist with this urgent task, I've created an "emergency bulletin" for language educators that brings together online websites, videos and teaching resources on the Russia-Ukraine crisis for immediate use. Attached is Issue #1. I plan to prepare further issues in future as the situation develops.

Please take a look at the resources I've listed and use these, if interested, to learn more about the crisis, start teaching it in your classroom, and engage your students in working to support Ukraine and end this cruel war.
Feel free to share, forward or post this bulletin to colleagues or students via e-mail, websites or social media. Get in touch if you have any questions / comments or if you have resources to share for future bulletins.
Let's do what we can to add our voices to the millions of people around the world calling for peace and an end to this brutal conflict. Gambarimasho!

Bulletin #2: Teaching Resources on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Dear GILE colleagues,
Vladimir Putin is brazenly continuing his brutal invasion of Ukraine and his illegal war on its people. Each day, his military forces continue to cause death, suffering and destruction as they murder and traumatise innocent men, women and children.

To understand – and stop – this unfolding tragedy, teachers around the world are stepping forward to address the crisis in their classrooms, join others around the world in protest and assist Ukrainian victims of Putin's immoral war.

As my contribution, I've created an "Emergency Bulletin" for educators that brings together online websites, videos and teaching resources on the Russia-Ukraine crisis for immediate use:
Please take a look at these resources and use them, if interested. Feel free to share, forward or post these to friends, colleagues and students via e-mail, websites or social media.

Bulletin #3: Teaching Resources on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine
Compiled by Kip Cates, March 8, 2022
Dear GILE colleagues,
It's hard to celebrate International Women's Day (today, March 8th) when Ukrainian women are being killed and injured, hiding in bomb shelters with their kids, fleeing rocket attacks on their cities and driven from their homes by Russian soldiers.
We are now on the 13th day of Vladimir Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine and his illegal war on its people. Russian military forces continue to cause daily death, suffering and destruction. Civilians are being killed. Hospitals are being destroyed. Apartments are being attacked. Schools are being bombed. Terrified women and children are fleeing their homes. The number of Ukrainian refugees has reached 1.7 million people.
The scale of this tragic - and totally unnecessary - humanitarian disaster should move us all to greater efforts to stop this immoral war, restore peace to Ukraine and provide assistance for the victims of Russian aggression.
To help with this, I'm sending you the latest issue of my "Emergency Bulletin" for language educators. This includes:
